Underwater Unmanned Systems Challenge(Hong Kong Selection)
Themed "Community of Shared Maritime Destiny —
Ecological Monitoring, Protecting Coral Reefs".
🌊 Event Overview
The 2025 Underwater Unmanned Systems Challenge (Hong Kong Selection) was successfully held at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University on 7 July 2025, hosted by the Hong Kong Science Popularization and Science Fiction Education Centre and organised by the Yau Tsim Mong Charity Foundation. Funded by the Innovation and Technology Commission, the competition was themed "Community of Shared Maritime Destiny — Ecological Monitoring, Protecting Coral Reefs", aiming to inspire Hong Kong youth's passion for marine technology through competition, fostering innovative thinking and engineering skills.
Participating teams from schools across Hong Kong competed on the same stage, independently developing unmanned autonomous bionic vessels and marine research equipment. Contestants not only demonstrated hard-core technologies including mechanical structures, programming control, and sensor applications in underwater operations, but also presented their design concepts and ecological conservation ideas during the defence sessions. Winning teams represented Hong Kong in the national finals held in August of the same year. The event not only provided a high-level platform for innovation and technology showcase, but also nurtured future young pioneers for the nation's marine technology development.
