Competition Theme

This year's (2025) competition is themed "Community of Marine Destiny - Ecological Monitoring, Guarding Coral Reefs", focusing on unmanned systems for marine applications, such as ROV, AUV, and BUR.

Competition Purpose

With underwater unmanned systems as the core, it aims to stimulate young people's interest in marine technology, impart scientific methods, build systematic thinking, pass on the spirit of scientists, and discover and cultivate future innovative talents in unmanned systems and smart marine technology.

Competition Background

The "National Youth Information Literacy Competition" is one of the competitions in the Ministry of Education's "List of National Competitions for Primary and Secondary School Students for the 2022-2025 Academic Year". The "Underwater Unmanned Systems Challenge" is an important part of the competition, jointly hosted by the Chinese Institute of Electronics and the Chinese Society of Oceanography. The "Underwater Unmanned Systems Challenge" aims to enhance young people's awareness of the ocean and national defense, further assist in the cultivation of innovative talents in unmanned systems, improve the scientific and technological literacy of young people across the country, and promote the popularization of frontier technologies in unmanned systems.

Competition Details

Registration Date: March 31 to May 5, 2025

Participants: Full-time primary and secondary school students in Hong Kong (Junior Primary Group, Senior Primary Group, Junior Secondary Group, Senior Secondary Group)

Competition Format: Each team consists of 4 students and up to 2 instructors.

Fees: Registration is free (Materials and tools are at your own expense)

Venue: The Hong Kong Polytechnic University
