The highly anticipated "2025 Asia-Pacific Youth Model United Nations Conference (Hong Kong)" will be grandly held at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) from July 14 to 16, 2025. Organized by China's top university Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU), this conference aims to provide an international exchange platform for secondary school students in the Asia-Pacific region. Through the Model United Nations (MUN) procedures, participants will discuss important global issues, thereby cultivating their global vision, critical thinking, and cross-cultural communication skills.

It is reported that this event is organized by Beijing Foreign Studies University, undertaken by Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press (FLTRP) and Beijing Foreign Studies University Education and Training Center, and co-organized by The Hong Kong Polytechnic University and China Education Exchange (Hong Kong & Macao) Center. It has also received official support from the Center for International People-to-People Exchange, Ministry of Education of China. The event is expected to attract more than 200 teachers and students from mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau, and Southeast Asian countries to participate and conduct in-depth discussions on the challenges and opportunities currently facing the world.

Model United Nations (MUN) is a global educational activity with a history of over 70 years. Participating students will play the role of diplomats from different countries. Within the framework of complying with the rules of procedure of the United Nations, they will consult, debate, lobby, and draft draft resolutions on specific issues, ultimately promoting the formation of international consensus.

To meet the needs of students of different ages, this conference has set up four committees, conducted in Chinese and English respectively, with topics closely related to global development hotspots:

Junior Secondary Section (Hong Kong & Macau Primary 6 to Secondary 3)

  • Chinese Venue (UNDP): AI Technology Sharing and International Cooperation
  • English Venue (UNESCO): Protection of Intangible Cultural Heritage

Senior Secondary Section (Hong Kong & Macau Secondary 4 to Secondary 6)

  • Chinese Venue (UNGA): Maintaining International Peace and Security: Practice of Multilateralism under the "UN Charter"
  • English Venue (ECOSOC): Blue Economy and Sustainable Development of Marine Resources

The organizers stated that participating students can not only significantly improve their Chinese and English language usage, public speaking, and data analysis skills but also meet peers from different cultural backgrounds in exchange activities and expand their international network.

All students who complete the conference will be awarded an official participation certificate.
To encourage outstanding performance, students with outstanding performance and students who write the best position papers will be selected in each committee.
The top 30% of outstanding students will be invited to represent Hong Kong and Macau to go to Beijing in November this year to participate in a 500-700 people highest-level conference together with elite students from various provinces.

Registration for this event is now open, and the deadline is June 30, 2025. Quotas are limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.
