At the beginning of the new year, as an international comprehensive science fiction competition with ultra-high prize money independently created by China, the call for entries for the 3rd Science Fiction Planet Award has officially started recently.
As an important unit of the 2025 9th China Science Fiction Convention (CSFC), the 3rd Science Fiction Planet Award sets up three competition units: Science Fiction Technology, Science Fiction Literature, and Science Fiction IP, and 9 sub-tracks, including previous categories such as Science Fiction Innovation Technology, Science Fiction Experience Technology, Science Fiction Product Innovation, Science Fiction Novel, Science Fiction Novella, Science Fiction Short Story, and Science Fiction Film and Television Works. At the same time, it also expands the scope of collection to emerging fields such as Science Fiction Games and Science Fiction Scenes. In addition, the "Science Fiction New Star Support Plan" is launched this year, focusing on discovering new science fiction talents and new works in science fiction literature and audiovisual works.
The collection period for the 3rd Science Fiction Planet Award is from now until February 7. The competition will select 9 champions and 5 cultivation objects, with a total prize money of 6.65 million RMB, and a single award prize of up to 1 million RMB.
The Science Fiction Planet Award was officially released at the 2021 China Science Fiction Convention. It was jointly initiated by Wang Jinkang, Liu Cixin, Wu Yan, and Guo Fan, and is an important part of the China Science Fiction Convention. As a comprehensive platform with multi-disciplinary intersection and multi-industry integration, the Science Fiction Planet Award takes science fiction culture as the core link, promoting close cooperation and coordinated progress in related fields, thereby generating significant agglomeration effects and innovation momentum.
This Science Fiction Planet Award pays attention to unpublished science fiction literature works and scripts, online movies, micro-short dramas, short films, and other audiovisual projects for the first time. Through systematic evaluation, it explores original and potential science fiction content, provides a platform for new science fiction creativity, delivers new forces, and promotes the development of the science fiction creation ecosystem.
At the same time, the competition has expanded science fiction games and scenes in the existing competition units, breaking through the boundaries of traditional science fiction creation, extending the form of expression from literature and film and television to the fields of games and scenes, enhancing cross-integration and innovation in various fields, injecting vitality into the diversification of the science fiction industry, enhancing its social and cultural influence, conforming to the trends of social cultural consumption and technological development, and promoting the science fiction industry to a new stage of development.
The 3rd Science Fiction Planet Award adopts a free declaration method. Applicants can declare through the "Science Fiction Planet Award" official WeChat account or the official website (www.sfpaward.com). After the declaration ends, the jury committee will conduct independent reviews, and the list of winners will be announced at the opening ceremony of the 2025 9th China Science Fiction Convention.
