On the afternoon of August 8, 2024, to better assist in the resource integration and innovative development of the sci-fi industry and promote the integrated development of China's sci-fi cultural cause and industry, the Inaugural Meeting of the Sci-Fi Industry Branch of the China Private Cultural Industry Chamber of Commerce (CPCICC) was grandly convened in Beijing.
At the meeting, Gu Hanchun, Secretary-General of CPCICC, delivered a speech and read out the "Reply on Agreeing to the Establishment of the Sci-Fi Industry Branch of the China Private Cultural Industry Chamber of Commerce." he expressed that science fiction is future life. In recent years, the sci-fi industry has shown a vigorous development trend globally. Sectors such as sci-fi novels, literary works, theme parks, and derivative products are extremely vital, not only enriching people's cultural lives but also injecting new momentum into economic growth. It is hoped that the Sci-Fi Industry Branch will uphold the principles of openness, cooperation, and win-win, move forward hand in hand with colleagues in the industry, jointly explore new fields, new models, and new opportunities for the sci-fi industry, and contribute its own strength to promoting the prosperous development of China's sci-fi industry.
The meeting heard and reviewed the preparatory work report of the Sci-Fi Industry Branch. The preparatory group leader Sha Jinfei introduced the establishment background, goals, and future development plans of the Sci-Fi Industry Branch in detail. The meeting passed documents such as the management regulations, dues collection management measures, and plenary meeting election measures of the Sci-Fi Industry Branch, and reviewed and approved the chief scrutinizer and scrutinizers for the plenary meeting.
The meeting elected the first presidential team of the Chamber's Sci-Fi Industry Branch. Chamber Vice President Yu Xiqun read out the election results. Following the election, Sha Jinfei, Chairman of Beijing Lingtong Century Film and Television Culture Media Co., Ltd., was agreed to serve as the Branch President; Li Jiyong and Luo Ruimin as Executive Vice Presidents; and Yan An, Pan Zhouyou, Yang Feng, Xue Song, Ding Zhisheng, Zhou Xinkai, Zhao Feng, Fu Guofeng, Yin Chao, and Gu Bei as Vice Presidents. President Yu Xiqun combined his own investment experience in his speech, stating that science fiction is the best weapon for mankind to explore science and also the ideological source for mankind to explore the future. The current development of the sci-fi industry in China possesses unlimited potential, and the Sci-Fi Industry Branch has broad prospects. He once again congratulated the establishment of the Sci-Fi Industry Branch.
Concurrently, the first presidential office meeting of the first session of the Sci-Fi Industry Branch was held during the conference to discuss and approve candidates for the Branch Supervisor, Chief Consultant, and Secretary-General. Duan Yunsong was appointed as the Branch Chief Supervisor; Huang Shi and Qin Jian as Supervisors. Liu Jianzhong, Sun Liyan, Zhou Xinxia, Shan Dongbing, Bao Shihong, Wang Hailin, Zhang Shaolong, Liu Haitao, Wang Jinkang, Han Song, Yao Haijun, Gou Lijun, Xing He, Pei Yungang, Tao Qianming, and Liu Chunhua were appointed as Branch Consultants. Zhai Xuelian was appointed as Secretary-General; Yu Xiangyun, Hong Liang, and Chen Liuqi as Deputy Secretaries-General.
At the inaugural meeting, Chamber Vice Presidents Zhang Shaolong and Yu Xiqun, Secretary-General Gu Hanchun, Secretariat Party Branch Secretary Wu Baotong, Sci-Fi Industry Branch President Sha Jinfei, and Executive Vice Presidents Li Jiyong and Luo Ruimin jointly unveiled the plaque for the Sci-Fi Industry Branch of the China Private Cultural Industry Chamber of Commerce.
At the awarding ceremony, Chamber leaders awarded plaques to the President, Executive Vice Presidents, and Vice Presidents of the Sci-Fi Industry Branch, and Branch leaders issued appointment letters to the Chief Supervisor, Consultants, Secretary-General, and directors of 5 business departments.
After the awarding ceremony, Chamber Vice President Zhang Shaolong delivered a speech on behalf of the Chamber. He stated that looking at the global economy, China has leaped to the second place in the world, but in terms of the sci-fi industry, China is still a developing country, with the four major sectors of literature, film and television, games, and derivatives not ranking at the forefront. Against this background, the establishment of the Sci-Fi Industry Branch by the Chamber is developmental. In the future, it will integrate multiple resources to provide services and ensure protection for the development of the sci-fi industry.
Shan Dongbing, Producer of Dongwa Pictures (Shanghai) Co., Ltd., spoke as a representative of the consultants. He first shared his industry experience in film and television and sci-fi film and television, expressing that the sci-fi industry has great room for development in the future, and the establishment of the Sci-Fi Industry Branch has important value and significance. As a member of the branch, he will actively contribute industry experience in the future to jointly explore the infinite possibilities of the sci-fi industry.
Finally, Sha Jinfei stated in his speech as the elected President that after nearly four years of preparation, the Sci-Fi Industry Branch was finally established today. He hopes that the establishment of the Sci-Fi Branch can open up collaboration and communication between the sci-fi industry, assist in the completion of the sci-fi IP industrial chain, create a virtuous cycle mechanism where upstream and downstream links of the sci-fi cultural industry chain support, serve, improve, and develop together, promote the development and improvement of the Sci-Fi Industry Branch itself, and ultimately achieve the goal of promoting the full industrial chain development of sci-fi in society.
The establishment of the Sci-Fi Industry Branch of the China Private Cultural Industry Chamber of Commerce marks a new development stage for China's private cultural sci-fi industry. Private sci-fi enterprises have begun to gather strength and innovate development, contributing the power of private sci-fi enterprises to enhancing national cultural soft power.
