2024 SeaPerch Challenge (Hong Kong and Macau Selection)

The "SeaPerch Challenge" is an activity integrating technological imagination, innovation, and creation, guided by the National Communication Center for Science and Technology and hosted by the Chinese Institute of Electronics and the Chinese Society for Oceanography.

Competition Theme

The theme of this year's (2024) competition is "Antarctic Scientific Expedition", focusing on unmanned systems for marine applications, such as ROV, AUV, and BUR.

Competition Purpose

With underwater unmanned systems as the core, it aims to stimulate teenagers' interest in marine technology, impart scientific methods, build systematic thinking, conveying the spirit of scientists, and discover and cultivate future innovative talents in unmanned systems and smart ocean technology.

Competition Background

The "SeaPerch Challenge" is an activity integrating technological imagination, innovation, and creation, guided by the National Communication Center for Science and Technology and hosted by the Chinese Institute of Electronics and the Chinese Society for Oceanography. In order to promote the publicity of science popularization in the Hong Kong and Macau regions and promote exchanges and cooperation between the Hong Kong and Macau regions and the mainland, this Center is entrusted by the National Organizing Committee of the SeaPerch Challenge to organize the "SeaPerch Challenge China Area (Hong Kong and Macau Selection)" (hereinafter referred to as Hong Kong and Macau Selection) in the Hong Kong and Macau regions. This Hong Kong and Macau Selection has been included in the white list competitions designated by the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China. Outstanding winners will be recommended to represent the "Hong Kong and Macau Representative Team" to participate in the National Finals held in August 2024. The "Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Youth Celebration of Return Exchange Competition" will be held at the same time, inviting teams from cities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area to come to Hong Kong for scientific and technological exchange activities to jointly celebrate the 27th anniversary of Hong Kong's return to the motherland.

    • Full-time primary and secondary school students
    • Schools in Hong Kong, Macau, and the Mainland Greater Bay Area
    • Total 100 teams
  • Competition Format: Each team consists of 3-5 students and 1 instructor
  • Fee: Registration is free (Materials and tools costs are self-funded)
  • Competition Location: Hong Kong, China
