
[Macao Daily News] Guided by the Office for Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs of the Ministry of Education and the Department of Education of Guangdong Province, the "Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area Teacher Union 2023 Annual Conference and 'Science Education Addition and Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Collaboration' Theory and Practice Macao Forum", co-organized by the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area Teacher Union, South China Normal University, and Macau Amateur Continuing Study Centre, was held at the Amateur Continuing Study Centre at 3 pm today.
The forum was supported by the Hong Kong New Generation Cultural Association, the Chinese Educators Association of Macau, and the Macao Association for the Advancement of Workers' Education. Luo Zhenyu, Director of the Social Work Department of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Macao SAR; Wong Tat Choi, Head of the Division of Research and Educational Resources of the Education and Youth Development Bureau; Li Peilin, Council Member of South China Normal University; Zheng Hongguang, President of the Chinese Educators Association of Macau; Fung Ka Fai, Vice President of the Macao Federation of Trade Unions and Supervisor of the Amateur Continuing Study Centre; Fan Dongping, Dean of the School of Science and Technology and Society of South China Normal University; Wong Chun, School Advisor of the Amateur Continuing Study Centre; and Pui Seng Yin, Principal; as well as principals of nearly 30 schools in Macao and representatives of universities, totaling nearly 50 people, attended the forum.

The forum gathered nearly ten experts and scholars who have made important contributions to the field of science education in China, including Professor Liu Bing of Tsinghua University, Professor Wei Bing of the University of Macau, Professor Tian Song of Southern University of Science and Technology, Professor Li Jianjun of China Agricultural University, and Professor Zeng Xiaolong of Guangzhou Number 2 Normal College. They shared themes around multiple professional fields such as "New Concepts of International Science Education and Teacher Education, Mechanism for Collaboration in Science Education (STEAM Education) in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, Cultivation Model for Top-notch Teenager Scientific and Technological Talents in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, Subject Integration and Interdisciplinary Teaching, and Science Education and Scientist Spirit and Craftsmanship Spirit". Kou Kam Fai, Principal of Pui Ching Middle School, and Cheang Kit Chio, Principal of Lou Hau High School, were also invited to share their experience in running schools related to science education in Macao.

Li Peilin, Fan Dongping, and Pui Seng Yin successively stated that this forum opened at the main venue in Guangzhou, and then invited experts to Macao to hold a sub-forum, hoping to conduct in-depth exchanges with educators in primary and secondary schools in Macao through the innovative cooperation model of "One Conference, Two Venues" in the Greater Bay Area. Combining the rich resources and advantages of the Greater Bay Area in the field of science education, it stimulates new thinking, helps build a new model of science education in the Greater Bay Area, and promotes the overall development of science education in the Greater Bay Area and Macao.
On the same day, the "Guangdong-Macao Science Education and Innovative Talent Cultivation Model" research project was launched, and letters of appointment for professional master's tutors in science and technology education were awarded to seven people, including Cheang Kit Chio, Pui Seng Yin, and Chan Keng Lim, Vice Principal of Pui Ching Middle School.
