The Hong Kong Book Fair has been held since 1990 and is a major event in Hong Kong every summer. Organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), the Book Fair provides a platform for the publishing industry to promote new books and offers readers opportunities to access new books and meet authors.
Exhibitors at the Hong Kong Book Fair come from China, Taiwan China, Germany, Japan, South Korea, the United States, Spain, Brazil, Dubai, Australia, Singapore, Thailand, etc. Every year, the Hong Kong Book Fair cooperates with multiple publishers and professional organizations to determine a unique theme and organize various activities around the theme. The Hong Kong Book Fair mainly focuses on on-site book sales, equivalent to book markets in the mainland.

The annual exhibition held by the Hong Kong Publishing Federation at the City Hall can be said to be the predecessor of the Hong Kong Book Fair. The first Hong Kong Book Fair was held in 1990 and has now entered its 27th edition. It is a major local annual event, with attendance repeatedly hitting new highs.
The organizer, HKTDC, has always taken promoting local reading culture as its mission. In addition to inviting the public to visit and buy books, it is also committed to organizing diversified cultural activities during the Book Fair to improve the content quality of the Book Fair. In addition, during the 3-day exhibition period, it is open to the public in addition to the trade exhibition.
